Chevron has been actively involved in the development of consistent, minimum health, safety and environment (HSE) training requirements for the contractor community. The team that the operators have been supporting is known as SafeGulf.

All contractors must provide minimum training/orientation as described under SafeGulf - additional specialized skills training may be necessary based on the services your company provides.

Chevron's Gulf of Mexico BU has required that contractors working in the GOM complete a SafeGulf training course prior to embarking a Chevron Offshore Location. We began communicating this new requirement early in 2005. The full compliance date for our contractor workforce was January 1st 2006.

Since March 1st 2007 we have full enforcement at our main shorebase location.

This is a step in the right direction to ensure a level playing field and a standard program for quality HSE training and knowledge retention of those contractor personnel that perform work on operator property.
